US Theme Parks

The United States is chock full of theme parks of all shapes, sizes and flavors. There are more theme parks and family entertainment centers in the United States than any other country of the world. From huge corporate theme parks like the ones of Disney and Six Flags, to smaller and family owned and operated theme parks, the country’s landscape is saturated with acres full of exciting rides, attractions and other interesting boots and events.

My own childhood is filled with summers full of trips to the state fair. This type of fair travels around the state during the summer months. This rotation also falls into late spring and early fall. The state fair would always occur on the fourth of July when we visited my grandmother’s town. This meant that the days surround the 4th were filled with the sights and sounds of fair activities, which all coalesced in fireworks on the night of July 4th.

Outdoor fairs have a certain smell from the rides, animals and delicious foods. I think it’s a combination of machine grease, hay and fried cornmeal. Such wonderful smells simply cannot be found in such harmony anywhere but the fair type of theme park. Six Flags will never be able to deliver fair ambience.

Find out when your state fair passes through your neighborhood. Not only are there rides and delicious and different foods, but interesting wares through which to browse that you won’t find anywhere else. My favorite fair rides were always the Tilt-a-whirl, the fun houses and the potato sack slide. These are all still in use at your nearest old fashioned fair and for a much more affordable price than Disney or Six Flags.

Use a search engine to find out when a state fair will be traveling to your town or city. Many times local city bulletin board websites and news station websites will also feature the schedules of local outdoor fairs and related theme park events.
